What to do if bougainvillea doesn't bloom

What to do if bougainvillea doesn't bloom

1. Timely pruning

Reason: Bougainvillea was not pruned properly during maintenance, resulting in few new buds, and the branches grew tangled and long, consuming too many nutrients to supply the flowers to bloom.

Solution: Timely pruning, cutting off branches that are too long, too dense, and too long, can reduce the consumption of nutrients and make more nutrients available for flowering.

2. Replace the potting soil

Reason: If the plant is not repotted for a long time, the roots cannot grow and there is insufficient space for growth, which will also lead to no flowering.

Solution: Replace the flowerpot with a new one and use new nutrient soil to provide the plant with the necessary nutrients for growth.

3. Plenty of Sunlight

Reason: Sunlight is an important factor to ensure flowering. If the plant cannot receive sufficient sunlight, photosynthesis cannot take place and it is naturally difficult to bloom normally.

Solution: Place the bougainvillea in a well-lit place and give it sufficient sunlight. Only when it is exposed to enough light can it bloom normally.

4. Control moisture

Reason: Water is not controlled before flowering. Excessive water will cause the branches and leaves to grow too long, making it difficult for the flowers to bloom.

Solution: Before flowering, you need to control the water content and just keep it moist.

5. Reasonable fertilization

Reason: If there is a lack of nutrients, flower buds cannot be produced, and even after blooming, the number will be relatively small.

Solution: Pay attention to fertilization, avoid lack of nutrients, and add some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers before flowering.
