How to manage azalea so that it does not wither, how to manage azalea after flowering

How to manage azalea so that it does not wither, how to manage azalea after flowering

1. Picking flowers and pruning branches

After the azalea flowers gradually wither, the remaining flowers should be cut off as soon as possible to avoid wasting water and nutrients and allow the plant to accumulate nutrients. At the same time, the branches should be pruned. Weak branches, diseased branches and branches that affect internal ventilation and light transmission should be cut off to avoid various diseases and pests caused by poor air circulation.

2. Enhance lighting

Since azaleas are usually kept indoors during their flowering period, the amount of light they receive is greatly reduced. After flowering, you need to gradually increase the light. However, because the light in summer is relatively strong, you cannot put it under the light immediately. You need to slowly adapt to the scattered light.

3. Increase watering

Generally, less watering is required during the flowering period, but the amount of watering should be gradually increased after flowering to allow the plant to absorb sufficient water. Generally, water the plants once a day in summer and once every two to three days in autumn. In addition to daily watering, you can also spray water on the leaves to increase the humidity of the air.

4. Topdressing in time

Top dressing should be applied in time after the flowering period, generally once every 15 days. When the temperature is higher and the growth of azalea slows down, you can stop fertilizing.
