How to propagate goldfish spider plant

How to propagate goldfish spider plant

one. Reproduction method

This flower can be propagated by cuttings, division and sowing, but because its seeds are not easy to collect, sowing is generally not the method used, but cuttings are used instead. Today, the editor will focus on this method of propagation.

1. There are actually two types of cutting propagation, namely top branch cuttings and stem cuttings. Cuttings can be carried out at any time of the year, but the survival rate will be higher if done indoors after flowering.

2. Choose one-year-old branches with a length of between 10 cm and 15 cm, cut them with small transition scissors, and keep three or four leaves. Insert the part with small leaves on the west side into the substrate soil.

3. The substrate soil can be made of clean river sand or vermiculite. After cuttings, the soil needs to be kept at a relatively high degree of moisture.

4. Generally, you need to cover the grafted seedlings with a blanket or film and control the temperature at around 20 degrees. In addition, you need to ensure that the air humidity is high.

5. If you control its living environment well, it will generally take root in three or four weeks. After rooting, it needs to be managed more strictly, which can promote it to grow more new branches.

6. You can pinch off the tips of the plants about two months after they have taken root. This will allow them to have more branches and more flowers, making the overall shape better.

7. After one or two months, you can transplant it into a pot. Generally, the seedlings will not bloom in the first year, but after two or three years, red flowers will bloom between the leaf axils!

2. Notes

Finally, the editor would like to remind everyone of some things that need to be paid attention to in the maintenance of the goldfish spider plant to ensure its healthy growth. It likes fertile, loose and breathable soil, likes sunlight but cannot be directly exposed to it. It needs shade in summer and light in autumn and winter. It needs sufficient water during the growth period and needs to be fertilized once one to two weeks. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers need to be increased when it blooms.
