How to grow gladiolus in water

Selection

If you want gladiolus to grow well in water, you must start from the beginning. When choosing flower bulbs, you must be selective. Those with large size and solid appearance are the best. Such bulbs have enough nutrients to meet the nutrients needed for gladiolus to bloom.

temperature

To grow flowers, you must first understand their living habits, and water-grown gladiolus is no exception! They love sunshine and sun exposure very much and are afraid of cold climates, especially in winter, so they must ensure a certain amount of sun exposure every day. For their growth, the most suitable temperature is between 20 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius. The temperature at night is slightly lower, but it must reach 10 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius. We must try our best to create a living environment for water-grown gladiolus that meets this temperature requirement.

Remove old stems

Before growing them in water, you need to clean the aging stems on their bulbs, and then use a sharp blade to make a few cuts in the places where there are no bulbs. This will be conducive to the growth of gladiolus flower heads. Now you can place them in the gladiolus water-growing pot.

Water Level

Then add water. The water should be clean and hygienic, and the water level should be one centimeter above the gladiolus bulb. Finally, put the flowerpot in a cool place and let the gladiolus soak for a while. When new buds emerge, you can let it bask in the sun!

Water change frequency

In the first half month of water cultivation, you must insist on changing the water regularly every day, and then change it every other day. Make sure the water is clean, otherwise the roots of the gladiolus will easily rot! If you change the water frequently, the gladiolus will grow particularly well, with green leaves, bright flowers and a fragrant smell!

Fertilization

The flowering time of gladiolus will vary greatly depending on the maintenance conditions. If you want to prolong the flowering period of gladiolus grown in water, you can apply a little fertilizer and control the temperature within the range most suitable for gladiolus growth, so that it will grow well.
