Succulent leaf cuttings

The first thing Huahua wants to talk about is the method commonly used by flower lovers, which is pulling the leaves.

Steps:

1. First, you need to prepare the materials for leaf cuttings: sharp scissors, succulent leaves (the leaves that can be used for leaf cuttings must be thick leaves, cuttings that are too thin are difficult to survive).

2. When taking succulent leaves from the mother plant, be sure to shake them gently a few times and pick them off. It is best not to damage the leaves. If the leaves are picked normally, there will be a slight dent in the middle, as shown in Figure 2, while the leaves with wounds are as shown in Figure 1.

3. Place the picked leaves in a cool and ventilated place for 1-2 days to allow the wounds to dry. At the same time, prepare the soil needed for cuttings. The soil can be made by mixing peat soil, perlite and vermiculite in a ratio of 3:1:1 to form nutrient soil.

4. For cuttings, you can either place the dried succulent leaves directly flat on the soil, or insert the lower end of the leaves slightly obliquely into the soil, about 2 cm in depth, and it does not need to be too deep.

5. Place the grafted succulents in a place with scattered light indoors, at a temperature of about 15-25℃. In about 6-10 days, you will find that the leaf cuttings have taken root. During the rooting period, the stale and moldy leaves should be removed in time and there is no need to water the plant.

6. After the succulent leaves have taken root, you can directly transplant them into the flowerpot. After that, as long as you take good care of it, you will soon have many pots of succulents!

Succulent beheading

After summer, most of the succulent plants in the house that were still alive began to grow taller to varying degrees. There is nothing to be afraid of when a succulent plant grows too tall. Just cut off its head!

Steps:

1. Use a sharp knife to cut off the heads of the succulent plants that have grown too tall.

2. The chopped heads of succulents should be placed together with the remaining stems in a cool and ventilated place for 2-3 days to allow the wounds to dry.

3. Prepare the soil needed for cuttings. You can mix peat soil, perlite and expanded clay in a ratio of 2:1:1 to make nutrient soil, and then cut the dried succulent heads into the soil at a depth of about 2-5cm.

4. After cuttings, place them in a cool, ventilated place with scattered light for maintenance, and do not water them during this period. It will take about 2-3 weeks for the roots to take root. After the cuttings of succulents have taken root, transfer them to a flowerpot, water them, expose them to light, and maintain them normally.

5. Don’t throw away the remaining succulent stems after beheading. Place them in a cool and ventilated place and take good care of them for a period of time.

6. Small buds will soon grow on the cut off stems. The small buds will grow slowly and become new succulents.

Succulent hydroponics

In fact, in addition to leaf cuttings and beheading, there is another method, which is to use hydroponics.

Steps:

1. Remove the succulent plants from the pots, clean the soil on the roots, and trim the roots, cutting off all the old roots and weak roots.

2. Prepare a clean empty bottle and fill it with water. In order to make the roots of succulents grow better, you can also add some rooting powder or something like that into the bottle.

3. Just place the succulents directly in the hydroponic bottle. Don’t you think it’s very simple, dear flower lovers? After all, hydroponic succulents are not only easy to grow, but also very beautiful!
