How to Rejuvenate Clivia

How to Rejuvenate Clivia

Reasons for the poor growth of Clivia

In fact, the reason why these Clivias that have been growing for many years have their growth deteriorate is mainly because they are too old, their root system is too old, and many of their leaves are very old and have no growth potential. Therefore, the growth of the plants is restricted and they have no motivation to continue growing.

However, this does not mean that Clivia cannot grow and bloom again. After all, Clivia has such a long lifespan, it would be a pity if it stopped growing.

So, how to rejuvenate Clivia?

How to Rejuvenate Clivia

The first thing is to repair the roots. When repotting the Clivia, you can trim the roots appropriately, mainly cutting off the aging roots of the Clivia, because these roots no longer have the function of absorbing nutrients, and leaving them only takes up space and hinders the growth of new roots. After pruning the old roots of the Clivia, new roots will grow. If the roots grow too long, they can be shortened appropriately.

The second step is to remove some of the leaves. Basically, with years of growth, the leaves at the base of the Clivia have become old and some of them can be removed appropriately.

The last step is to put soil back on the plant so that the Clivia can grow its roots again. The root system will slowly grow out, and then you can add some fertilizer appropriately. After growth, the Clivia will grow new leaves and bloom beautiful flowers.
