How to cultivate Teyulian

How to cultivate Teyulian

Farming methods

soil

It is best to cultivate the Jade Lotus in sandy soil with good drainage and air permeability to facilitate the removal of excess water and the growth of plant roots. It can be prepared with 1/3 each of leaf mold, sandy soil and garden soil, or you can add appropriate amounts of river sand and coal slag.

temperature

When the temperature is below 5℃, the plant stops growing or is slightly frozen. When the temperature is 0℃ or below, the water in the leaves freezes and the cells die. When the temperature is too high (above 35 degrees Celsius) or too low (below five degrees Celsius) in winter and summer, the plant stops growing. At this time, watering should be temporarily reduced or stopped, and the watering frequency should be resumed when the temperature is suitable.

illumination

The more light there is and the greater the temperature difference between day and night, the brighter the color of the leaves of the Jade Lotus will be. If the temperature permits, it is best to place it outdoors for maintenance and ensure sufficient light.

When there is insufficient light or too much moisture in the soil, the plant will grow too tall, the whole plant will be light green or dark green, the leaves will be sparse and elongated, and the upward growth will be accelerated, seriously affecting the ornamental value, and may even cause the plant to die due to the obstruction of photosynthesis.

Water and fertilizer

The water content of the Teyulian plant itself is very high, and excessive watering can easily lead to rot. Recommended watering interval: water once every 10 days or so, and water thoroughly when the soil is dry. It can be adjusted appropriately according to climatic conditions.

It is not advisable to apply too much fertilizer to the Jade Lotus, especially nitrogen fertilizer. It is advisable to apply a thin layer of fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium once a month.

Reproduction method

Te Yu Lian can be propagated by sowing, leaf cuttings, division and beheading, and has a strong reproductive ability.

Precautions

Common pests: scale insects. It can be killed with drugs such as carbendazim.

Common diseases: black rot. Once the disease occurs, cut off the affected area and spray the wound with chlorothalonil after it dries.
