Black grass cultivation methods and precautions

Growth habits of black grass

Black seed grass is now grown in the northern part of my country. It is relatively cold-resistant and likes to grow in sunny, fertile, well-drained soil.

It usually blooms in June and July every year and bears fruit in August. The petals of Nigella sativa varieties come in pink, purple, light yellow, white or light blue.

How to grow black grass

time

Root cultivation can be carried out in early to mid-September. If it is done too early, the tubers will rot due to the high temperature. If it is done too late, it will be detrimental to the growth of the plant and affect the flowering of black grass next spring.

soil

Potted plants: Mix 2 parts garden soil, 1 part leaf mold and 1 part manure to make potting soil.

Ground planting: Choose fertile and loose sandy soil.

illumination

Black seed grass should be planted in a sunny place to ensure sufficient light.

Watering

In autumn and winter, you can water it thoroughly every 3-7 days, and the frequency of watering can be determined according to the dryness of the soil in the pot. Excessive watering can easily cause root rot of the plant. Water slowly to prevent the water from flowing out the roots or washing away the substrate too quickly.

Fertilization

During the fruiting period of black grass, urea can be applied as topdressing fertilizer once.

Black grass cultivation precautions

When sowing and cultivating black grass, you must pay attention to controlling the sowing spacing. After the seedlings grow tall, they must be thinned out in time, and the soil must be loosened, weeded, watered, and fertilized appropriately to supplement the nutrients needed for growth.
