How to propagate begonia and what to pay attention to

Begonia propagation method

There are three ways to propagate Begonia: sowing, cutting and leaf cutting. Except for leaf cutting, the other two methods are more convenient to plant and they grow faster.

Begonia seed propagation

Begonia seeds can be propagated, and they are usually planted in March and April each year, when the climate and temperature are more suitable for its growth. Begonias reproduce naturally by sowing, and suitable planting soil is required when planting.

Begonia breeding time

The propagation method with the highest survival rate for Begonia is stem cuttings, and it is also the easiest to grow. It is best to plant it in early summer. Its leaves are also capable of reproduction and are relatively easy to survive. Appropriate maintenance methods are required at ordinary times.

Begonia cutting propagation

When propagating begonia by cuttings, the temperature needs to be kept at around 20 degrees, so that the temperature environment is relatively humid, which is suitable for its growth. If the temperature exceeds 25 degrees, the cuttings will rot.

Begonia propagation by seed

Begonia is propagated by sowing, usually in March or April. When the room temperature is 18-21 degrees, it will sprout after 15-25 degrees. When two or three small leaves appear, they can be planted in shallow pots.

Begonia leaf cutting propagation

Begonia leaf cuttings are the least likely to take root among the three types of cuttings. The leaves for cuttings should be thick, current year, shiny, and in the middle of a branch.

Begonia propagation precautions

When propagating begonia, be careful not to propagate it in winter. If the temperature is below 10 degrees, its seeds, stems, and rhizomes will find it difficult to take root in the soil and can easily kill it. In addition, it must have sufficient sunlight and a good ventilation environment at ordinary times.
