I just realized today that water should be poured this way.

Watering taboos

The most taboo when watering is alternating between dry and wet. You cannot not water the flowers and plants for a long time and then water them frequently in a short period of time. Flowers and plants cannot adapt to the sudden changes in the environment and their roots will easily rot.

Do not water halfway (watering only makes the soil half moist), otherwise the flowers and plants will be wet on the top and dry on the bottom, and their roots will easily rot.

The Right Way

Before watering, wait until the soil on the surface of the pot is dry. You can usually insert a toothpick 3 or 4 centimeters into the soil in the pot. Take out the toothpick and check before watering. If the toothpick becomes dry, then water it. Make sure to water until the water flows out of the water holes before stopping.

Water selection

Do not water the flowers directly with tap water. The first choice for watering flowers is natural water, such as rainwater, river water, etc., which have high oxygen content; the second best is purified water, which is clean and healthy; the last is tap water, which should be air-dried for a day before use to dissipate the chlorine before watering.

Water temperature

The water temperature should be close to the soil temperature for best root health! Before watering, leave the water next to the flowerpot for half a day, and then water the flowers when the water temperature is close to the temperature of the potting soil.

Immersion Basin Method

When the soil in the pot is completely dry or the pot is full of flowers and plants, making it difficult to water it thoroughly, you can use the immersion method to water it. Put the flower pot in water, and the water will seep into the soil from the holes at the bottom of the pot. When the surface of the soil in the pot is moist, take out the flower pot.

Spray method

Some flowers and plants obviously like moisture, but their roots are prone to rot. What should we do? You can often spray around the flowers and plants, or scrub the leaves from time to time, which can ensure moist air and avoid excessive moisture in the soil.

Watering Succulents

If succulents lack water, their leaves will become soft and wrinkled, which means they need to be watered. Don't water too frequently.

Dehydration rescue

What should I do if the flowers and plants are about to die because they haven’t been watered for a long time? At this time, you must not water too much in a short period of time, because the roots of flowers and plants have adapted to the long-term water shortage environment. You need to water them a little first to allow the roots to reactivate, and then continue watering after 1 day, step by step.
