Why does yew drop its leaves?

Why does yew drop its leaves?

1. Caused by watering

When watering, if you don't pay attention to the amount and frequency of water, or if you place it outdoors and don't drain it in time after a heavy rain, the soil in the pot will easily become too moist. If the roots are in a moist environment for a long time, they will begin to rot, and the leaves will naturally begin to fall off.

Solution: When watering, you should judge according to the condition of the potting soil. When the surface of the potting soil turns yellow-white and the leaves are slightly curled, don't rush to water it, just spray it with a spray. If you grow it indoors, it is best to water it once every 20 to 25 days. If you grow it outdoors, it is best to water it once every 15 to 20 days. In case of heavy rain, you need to stop watering and drain the accumulated water in the pot. If the plant has already started to show signs of leaf drop, we can replace the soil with new, water-free soil.

2. Caused by not pruning for a long time

When caring for it, if it is not pruned for a long time, the lower branches will grow too vigorously, consuming more nutrients, and the leaves will begin to fall off.

Solution: You can cut off some of the excess branches and leaves at the bottom. When pruning, you can trim it into a variety of shapes, such as umbrella shape, round shape, etc. This kind of pruning can greatly reduce the consumption of nutrients by branches and leaves, allowing the roots to begin to grow normally, and the leaves will no longer fall. In addition, in order to keep the yew tree in perfect shape, its top buds and some side branches can be removed appropriately.

3. Caused by pests and diseases

Some yew trees are prone to various diseases and pests when the temperature is high or in dry seasons. The first thing to be harmed is the leaves, which will fall off.

Solution: We should use some medicine to spray and treat to prevent the spread of diseases and pests.
