It is said that a long time ago, there was an embroidering girl named Xiaomei in Xiuyi Pond in the old city. Xiaomei was beautiful, had great embroidery skills, was also good at reciting poems and painting, and many young men came to her because of her reputation. These young masters talked to Xiaomei about calligraphy and painting, as well as embroidery. Xiaomei also incorporated poetry into her embroidery according to their requests. These young masters rewarded Xiaomei's embroidery and took it to all parts of the country.

Xiaomei was favored by these young men, among whom was Mr. Zeng, who was handsome and talented, and Miss Xia Mei was very fond of him. However, Mr. Zeng was very traditional in marriage. He adhered to his parents' orders and the matchmaker's words. He declined Xiaomei's love on the grounds that he already had a marriage contract.

Mr. Zeng's polite refusal deeply hurt Xiaomei's heart. She sent Mr. Zeng away and shed tears silently, lamenting that she truly loved Mr. Zeng, but he just didn't love her. How sad it was.

Later, Xiaomei's embroidery was loved by many literati, and the poet Hu Yingneng even wrote poems for her embroidery. Xiaomei was moved by the poet's talent and wanted to get to know him. Unfortunately, he was not a poet, but just a bricklayer, who was poor and bedridden.

Xiaomei talked with the poet, sighed for his bad luck, and decided to take care of him for the rest of his life. Later, Hu Yingneng passed away and Xiaomei returned to her hometown. Her story of courageously pursuing true love and her beautiful character of boundless love are also widely circulated. Xiaomei never married. After her death, people discovered a beautiful plant with heart-shaped leaves and beautiful little flowers that bloomed brilliantly. People believed that this was the incarnation of Xiaomei.
