The principle of sponge cuttingsFrom the characteristics of sponges, sponges absorb water and can retain moisture. There are many gaps inside them, and even after being soaked in water, there is still enough space for oxygen to enter. Therefore, sponge has good water retention and air permeability. Thereby maintaining good breathability. From these two points of view, sponges can promote the rooting of branches and prevent branches from rotting during cuttings. Using sponge for cuttingsPrepare the materials:A sponge-textured soilless cultivation medium will work better. If you don’t have one, you can also use an ordinary sponge. The cuttings for propagation are usually several sections of healthy green radish stems; Sharp scissors; Tweezers, container and clean water. Steps for taking cuttings of green radish:1. Soak the sponge in water for about half an hour to allow it to fully absorb water. 2. Cut off a healthy branch of green radish that is free of diseases and insect pests. Note that both the scissors and the cut of the branch need to be disinfected. This will help improve the survival rate of green radish cuttings. 3. Poke a few holes on the sponge, then use tweezers to insert the branches of the green radish into the sponge. The depth is generally about 2 to 3 cm. 4. After cuttings, the green radish can be placed in a ventilated and shaded place and wait for it to take root. Note that no fertilizer is needed, just keep it moist. If necessary, spray water on the leaves every two weeks. 5. Generally, 3 to 4 weeks after the cuttings, the bottom of the sponge will be covered with small white rootlets, which means that the cuttings of the green radish are successful. After it takes root, cultivate it in water for a week and then you can transplant it. |
