How to plant Rieger Begonia seeds

Rieger Begonia seeds

Did you know that tiny seeds are also classified? The seeds of Rieger Begonia are divided into coated seeds and uncoated seeds. When purchasing seeds, it is best to buy seeds from regular flower and tree companies that are not damaged, so as to ensure the survival rate of the seeds.

How to sow Rieger Begonia

Sowing method

Sowing Reiger Begonia seeds, like other small-seeded plants, is done by sowing. When sowing seeds, if you don't want to sprinkle them by hand, you can choose a sowing container. Since seeds are classified, they should also be distinguished when using sowing containers. Coated seeds should be placed in seedling trays because their seeds can be sorted, while non-coated seeds should be placed in seedling trays.

Then one thing you need to pay attention to is to choose soil suitable for seed development. Ordinary soil has less nutrients, so it is the best choice to prepare the sowing matrix yourself. The sowing matrix is made of one part each of peat soil and vermiculite powder. Crush and disinfect them, then mix and stir them. Make the soil a little moist and sprinkle a small amount of water because peat soil is water-repellent and cannot be used in a dry state.

When sowing, we must adhere to the principle of one seed per hole. When sowing non-coated seeds, we can add fine vermiculite powder.

Post-sowing work

According to our seed-planting habit, we are used to covering the seeds with a layer of soil after sowing. However, for Reiger Begonia seeds, there is no need to cover them with soil after sowing. Just spray a small amount of spray and wrap them with transparent plastic film. Make sure the temperature is appropriate and the air is flowing smoothly. After the beginning of autumn, the weather becomes cooler and you can gradually remove the plastic film to harden the seedlings, and they can be potted in early winter. This completes the sowing of seeds!
