Time and method of cuttings of peace lily

Peace tree cutting time

The peace holly is suitable for cuttings in spring and autumn every year. These two seasons are the growing seasons of the peace holly. The branches are in a growing state and can take root and survive in a relatively short time after cuttings. Moreover, the temperature in these two seasons is relatively suitable. The stable temperature can increase the survival rate of the cuttings.

How to take cuttings of peace thyme

1. Prepare the substrate

Before taking cuttings of the peace lily, you need to prepare the substrate needed for cuttings. You can use thoroughly washed river sand for cuttings. After cleaning, you need to disinfect it. River sand has good drainage and air permeability, which is very beneficial to the growth of cuttings.

2. Branch selection

On a vigorously growing peace lily tree, choose one-year-old semi-lignified branches, select the middle part of the branch, cut a branch about 10 cm with a bud, cut the bottom of the branch at a 45-degree angle, and then remove most of the leaves on the branch, leaving only 1-2 leaves.

3. Take cuttings

After disinfection, the branches can be used for cuttings. First, you need to use chopsticks to poke small holes on the substrate, then gently insert the cuttings into the small holes, gently press the surrounding substrate, and then spray water to wet the substrate.

Maintenance of peace tree after cutting

After the peace lily cuttings are completed, it needs to be placed in a location with scattered light or bright light for maintenance. It cannot be exposed to direct sunlight, otherwise the branches will easily dry up and die. It is best to place it in a well-ventilated location outdoors. If the substrate is dry, it needs to be sprayed with a spray bottle to keep it slightly moist.
