How to manage Dieffenbachia in winter

How to manage Dieffenbachia in winter

1. Adjust the temperature

Variegated Dieffenbachia is not cold-resistant, so it should be moved indoors as early as possible in winter, and the temperature for the winter should be adjusted to around 15℃. The indoor maintenance location should have good light. When the temperature is below 10℃, it is possible to get frostbite.

2. Repotting in early winter

In October, when winter just begins, it is necessary to change the pot. When repotting, cut off the old roots and leaves and replace them with new nutritious soil. After changing the pot, place it in a cool place for a few days before moving it indoors.

3. Proper watering

Although it likes to grow in a humid environment, the amount of water should not be too much at any time, especially in winter, the soil should be kept in a state of alternating dry and wet. It is recommended that you water the plant once a week during this season and clean the leaves appropriately to prevent the soil from being too dry.

4. Pay attention to ventilation

The indoor environment is very warm in winter. Because the outdoor temperature is lower, people will open the windows less frequently. If you are growing Dieffenbachia, you must pay attention to ventilation. You can open the doors and windows to get some fresh air when it is warm at noon. If the plant is kept in an environment that is too warm and not ventilated throughout the winter, its growth will be poor.
