How to Green the Balcony

How to Green the Balcony

The greening layout of the balcony generally has the following forms

1. Hanging style: Hanging flower planting is an excellent three-dimensional decoration. There are two methods. One is to hang it on the balcony ceiling and use small containers to plant spider plants, Christmas claws, coleus, etc. to beautify the three-dimensional space. The second is to hang small containers on the balcony railings, plant vines or spreading plants, and let their branches and leaves hang outside the balcony to beautify the fence and street view. If you use a hanging style, you can choose creeping grass, small-leaf ivy, nasturtium, etc.

2. Flower box type: Flower boxes are generally rectangular, and they save balcony area and space whether placed or hung. Place the cultivated potted flowers in flower boxes, and hang the flower boxes on the outside of the balcony with hooks or place them flat on the upper edge of the balcony wall. When using a flower box, you can choose some drought-resistant flowers that like the sun, have many branches, numerous flowers and a long flowering period, such as geranium, chrysanthemum, dahlia, vinca, etc.

3. Rattan pot style: erect vertical poles at the four corners of the balcony, and place horizontal poles on top to fix them to form a trellis; or erect vertical poles at the outer corners of the balcony, and tie poles or ropes between the vertical poles to form something like a fence. The branches and leaves of climbing plants such as grapes, melons and fruits are pulled onto the frame to form a shade screen or hedge.

4. Wall-attached type: Woody vines such as creeper and trumpet creeper are placed inside and outside the fence to green the fence and nearby walls.

5. Flower stand style: This is a method commonly used by the people. On a smaller balcony, in order to expand the planting area, you can use a stepped or other form of pot rack, arrange various potted plants in order of size and height, and form a three-dimensional potted flower arrangement on the balcony; you can also build the pot rack outside the balcony to get space outdoors, thereby increasing the green area and beautifying the street view. Be careful not to plant too many or too diverse types of plants. They should be clearly layered and have a unified style. You can choose chrysanthemums, roses, cyclamen, asparagus fern, coleus, etc.

6. Comprehensive type: Reasonable combination and comprehensive use of the above forms can also achieve a good beautification effect and is also widely used in real life.

The amount of flowers planted on the balcony should be moderate so as not to create safety hazards. After all, we plant flowers to decorate our homes and beautify the environment. Create a more comfortable living environment for yourself.
