Succulent leaves falling

In the past few days, there are always flower lovers asking Huahua in the background that the succulents at home started to lose leaves for no reason, and they didn’t know what went wrong. Huahua will analyze it for you.

Normal metabolism

If you find that the succulents in your home are losing leaves, you can observe them first. If only the leaves at the bottom are falling and the leaves are wrinkled, it means that the succulents are growing new leaves and the old leaves are falling off normally.

Solution:

When you encounter this situation, don't worry, just clean up the old leaves that have fallen into the flowerpot. Otherwise, the fallen leaves in the flowerpot can easily cause bacterial infection.

Too much water

In fact, most succulents lose leaves because of overwatering. Succulents are drought-resistant plants. If flower lovers always want to water them, the leaves will absorb too much water, become very fragile, and start to fall off.

Solution:

Although the evaporation rate is large in summer, when watering normally, you still need to follow the principle of watering dry and then watering thoroughly, and make sure there is no water accumulation in the pot.

Black Rot

Succulent plants shed leaves mostly because they are about to develop black rot. It is easy to get hot and stuffy in the summer. If the succulents are not well ventilated, it is easy to cause black rot in the succulents, and they will start to lose leaves continuously.

Solution:

1. If you find that the black rot of the leaves is not too serious, just pick off all the black rot leaves. 2. If not only the leaves but also the stems of the succulent have become black rotten, then you need to cut off all the black rotten parts, then place them in a place with sufficient scattered light to dry for a while, and then put them back in the pot. 3. If you find that the stems and roots have already turned black and rotted, then it is basically hopeless and you should throw it away immediately. Because black rot of succulents is very contagious, if you are not careful, it will spread to healthy succulents.

Succulent leaves soften water

If any flower lovers find that the leaves of the succulents in their home begin to become transparent, or yellow spots appear on the leaves, and then gradually become soft or even fall off, this is a sign that the succulents are becoming waterlogged.

Solution:

1. If you find that some leaves of succulents have turned into water, it is best to remove the leaves immediately and then move them to a place with sufficient scattered light for a period of time. If you find that the remaining leaves do not turn into water, then there is no problem. 2. If the waterlogging of succulents has become very serious by the time you discover it, you must deal with it immediately. Use a sterilized knife to cut off all the waterlogged parts of the succulent, then apply carbendazim on the wound and place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

There are small white spots on the leaves of succulent plants

Many flower lovers have recently left messages to Huahua, saying that a lot of small white spots have appeared on the succulents in their homes, and they can’t be killed no matter what. In fact, these small white spots are the scale insects that succulents are most likely to get in summer!

Solution:

1. If you find that there are not many scale insects on the leaves of succulents at home, pick them all out with a toothpick or needle, or use a cotton swab dipped in 75% alcohol, and wipe it repeatedly on the succulent leaves with scale insects several times, which can kill a small number of scale insects. 2. If the number of scale insects is too large and has basically spread to the entire succulent plant, there is no other good way except spraying pesticides. You can spray cypermethrin and thiamethoxam alternately to prevent scale insects from developing resistance.

White cotton-like appearance on the roots of succulent plants

When summer arrives, many succulents enter varying degrees of dormancy due to the high temperature, and root mealybugs are easily produced in the soil at this time. The reproductive capacity of root mealybugs is very strong. If one succulent plant is infected and not treated in time, the rest will basically suffer.

Solution:

1. If you find white cotton-like substances on the roots of succulents, quickly mix water with Flower Protector or Aebizhi, and irrigate the roots of the succulents to kill the root mealybugs in the soil. 2. If root mealybugs are found in the soil, there are basically a lot of insect eggs in the soil. You cannot change the pots in the summer when the temperature is high. You can wait until the weather is a little cooler, change the pots and soil for the succulents, cut off the roots that have root mealybugs, and then replace the soil with new soil.
