How to propagate plumeria

How to propagate plumeria

Cutting propagation of plumeria

When propagating frangipani, you can use the cutting method which is easier to survive. When the temperature is high, cuttings can be taken all year round.

Choose thick and mature branches, cut them into branches of about 20 cm, and then carry out cuttings after the wounds are dry in the shade. Cuttings are usually planted in clean sandy soil. After planting, spray water and keep the soil moist. They will generally take root in a month. After rooting, you can transplant it. Shade treatment should be provided in the early stage, and then it can grow normally.

Layering propagation of plumeria

Plumeria can also be propagated by layering. Layering propagation is mainly carried out during the growing season, but compared with cuttings, it is less used.

Sowing and propagation of plumeria

Frangipani will bear fruit, but not too many. The fruit contains seeds that can be sown.

The collected seeds are sown, usually on a sand bed, and the germination temperature is maintained at 18℃-24℃. Cover with a layer of soil when sowing, and water appropriately to keep the soil moist. Germination will be relatively fast. When the seedlings grow to 15 cm, they can be transplanted.

Grafting propagation of plumeria

If you want to propagate frangipani by grafting, it is relatively easy to do because its survival rate is relatively high. Generally, the best seasons for grafting are spring and autumn, while certain conditions need to be met in winter and summer.

When grafting, choose suitable rootstocks and scions for grafting, and pay attention to preventing rain and strong winds to avoid affecting the survival of the grafted seedlings.
