How to plant dancing grass seeds

Seed treatment

Because dancing grass has hard seeds and a shiny waxy surface, it normally takes several months for it to germinate. Therefore, in order to make it germinate quickly, before sowing, you need to gently rub the wax layer with sun-dried or heated dry fine sand to achieve the effect of slightly breaking the seed coat, and then immerse it in 38°C warm water. After soaking for more than a day, take out the seeds and wrap them with coarse cloth, place them in a warm and moisturizing place, and wait until the seeds swell and dry slightly before sowing. The suitable temperature for sowing dancing grass is about 20-28℃.

Sowing Attention

Cover the surface of the flower seeds with a thin layer of culture medium, the thickness of which is about 1-3 times the diameter of the flower seeds. If the seeds are buried too deep, it will be difficult for them to germinate. Use a spray to spray water in an appropriate amount. It is best to cover the mouth of the flower pot with plastic paper to reduce water evaporation. Place the flower pot in a shaded place away from light, but make sure to open it for 15-20 minutes every day to allow for ventilation. Flower seeds generally germinate in about 8-10 days. However, sometimes the normal germination time of seeds may change due to factors such as temperature changes, so there is no need to worry too much.

Sprouting Note

When the first pair of cotyledons on the bud unfolds symmetrically, you need to remove the covering immediately and move it to a sunny place. However, avoid direct sunlight, pay attention to temperature changes, and do not water too much. When the first pair of cotyledons are green and fully expanded, the exposure time to direct light needs to be gradually increased. When the first pair of true leaves grow out, it should be allowed to receive direct sunlight throughout the day while keeping the culture medium slightly moist. When the second pair of true leaves grows out, it means that the sowing has basically been successful. As long as you pay attention to temperature and water management, the dancing grass will be able to thrive.
