Lemon cutting method

Lemon cutting method

Time for cuttings

The most suitable time for cuttings is late May, and it can also be done in September, but after all, it is autumn and the air humidity is very low, so you need to pay attention to regulating the water content. If the lemons grown by flower lovers are covered with plastic film, they can be propagated by cuttings in spring or winter.

Cutting vessel

You can choose a flower pot, a disposable cup, or other suitable container, but remember to make the bottom permeable to water.

Cutting medium

The most suitable soil is sandy soil with good air permeability and drainage. The soil should be disinfected in advance, but do not apply fertilizer.

Cuttings

Cut mature and strong branches that have grown for about a year. It is not good to cut branches that are too young because they will lack nutrients and rot easily. The length of the cuttings should be about 15 cm. Then cut off most of the leaves on the branches, leaving only two or three leaves at the top.

Methods for cuttings

Use a cotton swab to poke a small hole in the medium, then insert the branch into the hole, about one or two nodes, and then fill the hole with the medium.

Management after cutting

After cuttings, water them thoroughly. You can sprinkle some water on the leaves, then place them in semi-shaded area and cover them with plastic film. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Excessive watering may cause root rot. The temperature should be maintained at around 25℃, and the seeds will germinate in about 40 days. Then they can be gradually exposed to light and put into normal management.

The method of lemon cuttings is actually not difficult and it is easy to survive, so I will introduce it here.
