How to grow tobacco

How to grow tobacco

Growth environment

Germination conditions: 21-25℃, no soil covering. Days required for germination: 10-15 days.

Suitable temperature for growth (day temperature/night temperature): 15-17℃.

Light requirements and other growing conditions: partial shade or partial light.

Time from sowing to flowering or harvesting: 9-10 weeks.

Sowing method

Flowering tobacco is suitable for sowing in January and February because it grows slowly in the seedling stage. Can be planted in pots or in the garden. Flowering tobacco does not require too much care during this period. Just apply more fertilizer after the spring to promote growth and flowering.

Maintenance methods

Sandy soil rich in organic matter is the best choice. Good drainage is required, as poor drainage can easily lead to root rot. There must be sufficient sunlight. If there is insufficient sunlight, the plant will tend to grow too tall, and the flowers will be sparse and the color will not be beautiful. After the plant is established and survives, pinch the top once to promote more branches.

During the rainy season, it is necessary to prevent long-term humidity, and the suitable temperature for growth is 10-25℃. The maintenance process is extensive and relatively simple. Applying fertilizer several times after the beginning of spring will not only promote growth but also flowering. Due to the long flowering period, it is suitable for both ground planting and potted planting.
