How to propagate shrimp orchid

Fall breeding

Breeding area

When propagating Shrimp Orchid in autumn, it is generally used as a perennial flower. This cultivation method is best suitable in areas south of the Yangtze River.

Material selection

When selecting materials, of course, you have to choose tubers that are grown in the current year and have tender shoots. Cut the selected tubers into small pieces, each with 1 to 2 buds.

Preparation

In the prepared loose and fertile soil, dig holes 10 to 13 cm deep, with a row spacing of 33 cm and a plant spacing of 23 to 25 cm. Dig as many holes as you want. Then level the bottom of the hole and plant 3 seed stems in each hole.

Cultivation points

When planting, stagger the bud tips facing each other in a triangle and place them flat at the bottom of the hole.

Post-planting care

After planting, cover with fine fertilizer soil or fire soil ash, water once with thin human and animal manure water, cover with soil, and make it level with the surface of the bed.

Spring breeding

Applicable regions

It is suitable for use in potted plants and in areas with relatively low temperatures where it cannot overwinter in the open field, such as northern my country. It is more suitable for reproduction at this time.

Cultivation methods

In May of each year, after the shrimp orchid blooms, remove the pseudobulb from the pot.

Cut off old roots and dead branches, divide into individual pieces, store in a dry, cool place, and plant when new shoots grow to 5cm.
