Diseases and prevention methods of shrimp orchid

anthrax

Symptoms

Initially, small brown sunken spots appear on the leaves, which later expand into round or irregular spots. In severe cases, gangrene may occur in the center of the spots.

Prevention and treatment measures

① Reasonable density planting, increase light, and improve ventilation and drainage conditions.

② When cultivating strong seedlings, do not move the plants frequently to avoid human damage and disease.

③Cut off the diseased leaves and apply 1000 times diluted thiophanate-methyl or carbendazim to the wounds on the leaves of the plant.

④ Spray 1000 times diluted thiophanate-methyl or carbendazim once a week.

Mosaic virus disease

Disease pattern

The host range is extremely narrow, and the disease is transmitted through contact with diseased plants of the shrimp orchid, but the harm is very serious, easily causing devastating damage and is difficult to eradicate.

Prevention and treatment methods

① Divide healthy plants.

② To prevent and control mechanical infection, it is best to disinfect the knives.

③ Perform final operations on the diseased strains and isolate and destroy them.

Soft Rot

Symptoms

In the early stage, bacteria invade the leaves or heart leaves to produce water-soaked spots, which expand rapidly and contain a lot of water. In the later stage, a foul odor occurs, the diseased leaves turn yellow and fall off, and the whole plant becomes soft and rots and dies. The disease spreads very quickly and must be treated and prevented as soon as possible.

Prevention and treatment methods

① Improve growth conditions, increase ventilation, and reduce temperature and humidity;

②Cut off the infected part, apply antibiotic powder, and do not water for a week to prevent the spread of the disease;

③ Use 1000 times diluted streptomycin, 500 times diluted lime sulfur or Bordeaux mixture, spray once a week.

Leaf blight

Symptoms

Small black spots appear on the leaf tips and gradually expand into irregular spots. The edges of the spots become dark brown and the middle is light gray-brown. In severe cases, they spread to the entire leaf and finally wither and fall off.

Prevention and treatment methods

① Remove the diseased leaves and spray 1000 times diluted thiophanate-methyl or Haoshengling;

② Diseased plants should be shielded from rain or watering should be stopped to prevent the disease from getting worse;

③ Spray 1000 times diluted Haoshengling once a week to prevent disease.
