How to trim Margaret

Why prune?

Because the marigold is perennial, its stems appear green, but after a period of cultivation, the stems will gradually become woody and turn into wooden sticks, which will not only affect the appearance, but also reduce the flowering of the plant. Only by cutting off the woody branches in time and allowing the marigold to renew its branches will you see more flowers every year.

Pruning time

Margarite flowers that have been cultivated for 2 to 3 years need to be pruned in time. The time for pruning is generally chosen between May and June, and heavy pruning is done about 20 cm close to the root, leaving only one branch with complete leaves as a nutrient supply branch.

Of course, some plants grow relatively quickly, and their branches become lignified after one year. Try to prune them before the branches become lignified, so that the plants can recover faster.

Pruning steps

When the marigolds in your home have become woody and the lower branches are gradually wilting due to aging of the plant, you have to prune them. Choose a strong branch as a nutrient branch and cut off all the others.

Note: The selection of nutrient branches is very important. As the temperature gradually rises from May to June, retaining nutrient branches can provide nutrients for the growth of other branches. However, if the selection is inappropriate and strong pruning is performed, it will inevitably cause the seedlings to hang.

After 5 to 10 days of pruning, many small buds will grow on the branches, which will look very tender.

When the newly grown branches have enough new leaves to carry out photosynthesis, cut off the previously retained nutrient branches and start letting it grow normally.

Wow, in about a month, the leaves will grow green quickly. Now you should start topping the plant to promote branching and make the plant fuller.
