How to propagate jade tree

How to propagate jade tree

Reproduction method

Branch cuttings

During the growth period of Jade Plant, cut healthy branches about 10 cm in length.

Place it in a cool place, wait for the wound to dry, and then insert it into the prepared sand.

The branches will take root about 3 or 4 weeks after cuttings. When the roots grow to about 3 cm, they can be transplanted into pots for continued cultivation. The survival rate of branch cuttings can almost be said to be 100%, so you don’t need to worry too much, just take good care of it.

Single leaf cuttings

Single leaf cuttings are propagated just like other small succulents. Select healthy leaves and place them on the soil to grow a succulent plant with one leaf.

Cut or break off healthy leaves from the mother plant of Jade Plant. The growing leaves that usually fall off can also be cleaned and used for cuttings.

Simply lay the leaves flat on the moist soil substrate. Isn’t it simple?

Maintenance

soil

The suitable soil for jade plant growth is fertile sandy soil with good air permeability and water permeability. Therefore, when breeding, you can mix peat and vermiculite into plain sand, or you can directly add coarse sand to the garden soil.

illumination

Jade plant likes an environment with plenty of sunlight, but is afraid of direct sunlight. In the early stage of cuttings, avoid too much and too strong sunlight and provide appropriate shading. After roots have taken root, gradually increase the light intensity.

Watering

The newly grafted jade plant does not need too much water. Excessive watering will cause rot and lead to reproduction failure. Just make sure the soil is moist at normal times. After successful cuttings, watering should also adhere to the principle of "don't water unless the soil is dry, and water thoroughly when you do."
