When does Michelia bloom?

When does it bloom?

The petals of Michelia are light yellow with purple halos on the edges. The flower diameter is 2 to 3 cm and has a strong banana scent. The natural flowering period is from March to May. Other species of the same genus as Michelia include the purple Michelia, which has purple flowers; and the mountain Michelia, whose flowers are as white as jade and as big as lotus, and whose leaves are like orchids.

Michelia blooms from April to May, but if you prune the branches frequently, it can bloom in three seasons of the year. Although there are not as many flowers blooming as in spring, the fragrance of the flowers is still very strong.

meaning

The Michelia flower blooms but does not fall, as if smiling without saying a word, which has the subtle beauty of classical Chinese. Therefore, the Michelia represents reserve, subtlety, beauty, solemnity, purity, and nobility, and also implies a kind of subtle beauty. It blooms in early summer and the flowers are ivory yellow. In my country, Michelia has been a well-known and beloved fragrant flower plant since ancient times. Its fragrance is mellow, strong and long-lasting but not greasy, and is deeply loved by people.

legend

During the Song Dynasty, there lived a young couple in Lin'an Prefecture: Yang Naicai and Li Xiuying. Both of them are talented and good at poetry and painting. But not long after, the Yuan army invaded Lin'an. When the country was destroyed and the family was ruined, Yang Naicai, who was facing the separation of life and death, picked up his wife's dressing mirror, broke it into several pieces, and gave one piece to his wife and one to himself. Said to his wife: With your talent and beauty. You will definitely be sent to a powerful family. You must live well. If I survive by chance, I will sell the broken lenses at the market on the 15th in the hope of reuniting them.

Just as Yang Naicai expected, his wife was sent to the mansion of Minister Wang Bochao and became his favored wife. But she missed Yang Naicai day and night, and sent people to the market to buy broken lenses on the 15th of every month. Five years later, the couple was finally reunited.

The two returned to their hometown together and lived a peaceful and loving life. Thirty years later, the 88-year-old couple passed away on the same day of the same month of the same year. Later, a tree grew on their joint tomb. The flowers on it only bloomed and never faded. They were shaped like Michelia, extremely beautiful, and had an unparalleled fragrance. This was Michelia.
