Water and fertilizer maintenance tips for Molan

Water and fertilizer maintenance tips for Molan

How to water

Mo Lan likes moisture and fears humidity, prefers dryness and fears dryness. If the leaves are exposed to the sun, they will be burned and become scorched and dry. If they are exposed to rain for a long time, the buds will rot and the roots will be damaged. The air humidity should be high, but the water content of the potting material should not be too high.

When sprinkling, watering, or spraying water, it is best to avoid spraying directly on the orchid heart and bud heart, because the orchid heart and bud heart will rot easily due to accumulated water. It is advisable to water more during the dog days of summer or in the dry autumn, while less water should be used during the damp early spring or the continuous rainy early summer.

Although the saying "No watering in spring, no sun in summer, no dryness in autumn, and no wetness in winter" does not specify the watering requirements in spring and summer, the temperature in spring and summer is higher, water evaporates faster, and watering should be more frequent than in other seasons.

How to fertilize

The fertilization of Mo Lan should follow the principle of applying thin fertilizers frequently. Of course, it also depends on the variety of Mo Lan and the weather conditions. It depends on the temperature and the growth strength of the plant.

Generally, fertilizer is applied once a week during the growing period. In autumn and winter, the growth of Mo Lan is slow, so fertilizer is only applied once every 20 days. Do not pour fertilizer on the leaves when fertilizing. After fertilizing, pour a small amount of clean water to wash away the residual fertilizer in the soil.

Fertilization must be done in the evening on a sunny day. Fertilization on a cloudy day will cause the roots to rot. Do not apply fertilizer when the temperature is low, especially when watering with liquid fertilizer in winter to avoid freezing on the surface of the pot.
