Cultivation and propagation of Pinus sylvestris

Cultivation and propagation of Pinus sylvestris

Cultivation techniques

The seeds are sown using the spot sowing method and covered with about 3 cm of soil. They are easy to germinate at a high temperature of 30~33℃. Division propagation should be carried out in early spring from March to April. Be careful when cutting, try not to damage the stem bark, apply wood ash or sulfur powder on the incision. After the incision is slightly dry, plant it in a pot of humus soil containing a lot of coarse sand. After watering, place it in a semi-shaded place for cultivation. The optimal temperature is maintained at 27~30℃, and it is easy to survive.

Breeding tips

Sowing: Because the seeds are large, they are sown in pots indoors in spring. The suitable temperature for germination is 24~30℃, and it will germinate about 15 days after sowing.

Division: It is best to do it in April or May. Divide the sucker buds beside the main stem, and try to minimize damage to the stem bark when cutting. After the incision is slightly dry, insert it into the sand bed first, maintain the room temperature at 26~30℃, and plant it in a pot after it takes root.

Precautions

When potting, slightly enlarge the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot and put more tiles under it to facilitate drainage. Spring and summer are the vigorous growing seasons, so you need to water the plant more often and spray water on the leaves in the morning and evening to keep the leaves green.

During the hot summer, when the temperature is high, it is better to place it in semi-shade. Direct sunlight will make the leaves turn yellow and lose their luster. After autumn, control the amount of water to keep the soil moist.
