Cultivation methods and precautions of Emei rose

Cultivation methods and precautions of Emei rose

1. Soil

When planting Emei rose, you can prepare nutrient soil so that the nutrient ratio is effectively distributed. It is generally recommended to use leaf mold, garden soil and rice husk ash, the ratio is generally 3:5:2, and such nutrient soil has good drainage.

2. Watering

In winter, Emei rose enters a dormant period. During this stage, you only need to keep the soil moist. In spring, because the branches and leaves of Emei rose begin to grow in early spring, it is recommended to increase the frequency of watering appropriately at this stage, such as once in the morning and once in the evening every day. Due to the high temperature in summer, the evaporation of water from the leaves increases, causing the rose to be in a semi-dormant state. Dryness and dehydration are the most taboo at this time. Water when the temperature is high, and control the amount of water that seeps out from the drain each time. The weather is cooler in autumn and the evaporation rate slows down, so just keep the soil moist.

3. Fertilization

If there is fertilizer to supply nutrients, the Emei rose can keep its leaves thick, dark green and shiny. It is generally recommended to use long-term fertilizers such as rotted cow dung and chicken manure. You can use a more concentrated liquid fertilizer once in early spring, but be careful not to fertilize during the flowering period. Wait until the flowers fade before adding nutrients to the fertilizer. In September when the fourth or fifth axillary buds are about to sprout, you can apply fertilizer again. In December when it is dormant, use decomposed organic fertilizer to help overwinter.

4. Pruning

Comprehensive pruning must be carried out after each batch of flowers withers. Cut off the remaining flowers and some thin, crossed, and overlapping branches after opening in time, leaving the thick, young branches, and at the same time leave the outer buds, prune into shape, make the plant shape beautiful, and extend the flowering period.

5. Notes

Emei rose not only likes sunlight, but can also grow in semi-shady conditions. It is also a plant that can withstand frost damage and can overwinter in the open even in ice and snow. In addition, it does not have high requirements for soil. From poor to heavy soil, it will not hinder normal growth. However, it can grow better if planted in fertile, deep and well-drained soil. However, its roots are very sensitive to waterlogging, and attention should be paid to drainage during the rainy season to avoid root damage.
