Maintenance methods of Clivia in summer

Maintenance methods of Clivia in summer

Avoid direct sunlight and exposure to the sun

The sun is scorching in summer, so provide shade all day. In the early morning or late evening, when the sun is slanting, you can move it to the sun for a while to carry out photosynthesis and absorb nutrients.

Avoid high temperature and do not dry

The suitable temperature for Clivia growth is 18~25℃. It is best to move it to an air-conditioned room or a well-ventilated and shaded balcony in summer. It is best to use tap water that has been left for 2 to 3 days for watering, and water once at 6 o'clock every day.

To prevent leggy growth, do not apply fertilizer

Clivia will enter a dormant period in summer, so stop fertilizing and water it appropriately. If the potting soil is too fertile, you can pour out the upper part of the soil. This can not only reduce the fertilizer efficiency, but also have a cooling effect.

Prevent dust pollution and do not pour dirty water

The growth rate of Clivia slows down in summer. At this time, you should keep the leaves clean. Clean the leaves once a week by spraying directly or wiping them with clean water. When watering, ensure the water is clean. Dirty water will cause the roots and leaves of Clivia to rot and turn yellow.

To prevent soil compaction, do not use clay in pots

Fertile, loose, breathable, water-permeable and slightly acidic soil is more suitable for the growth of Clivia. Water evaporates quickly in summer, so try to choose soil with good air permeability. It is forbidden to use loess, as loess is sticky and the soil easily becomes compacted or balled when wet, which is not conducive to plant growth.

Prevent diseases and avoid infection

The summer is hot and humid, which is very easy to breed bacteria. Be careful during any operation not to damage the leaves and rhizomes to prevent the roots and leaves from leaking juice and causing rot.
