How to grow Calla Lily in winter

How to grow Calla Lily in winter

Winter breeding methods

illumination

The temperature drops sharply in mid-October, so move the potted plants indoors to a sunny place for maintenance. Care in winter is very important. If there is sufficient light, there will be more flowers and the flowering period will be longer.

temperature

Calla lily is not cold-resistant and can barely survive at 4℃. In winter, the plant can generally bloom at room temperature of 15°C, while it can only bloom when the temperature at night is above 10°C.

humidity

The indoor air is dry in winter, so to ensure that the soil in the pot and the air humidity are moist, you can spray water around the plant frequently.

Watering

Be careful when watering in winter. Water the plant with water that is close to room temperature and wash the leaves once a week to keep them bright green. To ensure early spring flowering, water the plant 1 to 2 times with fertilizer in December.

Fertilization

Before moving calla lilies indoors in winter, it is generally necessary to fertilize them three times.

After entering the room, fertilize once a month or once every half a month. The room temperature is higher, so the number of fertilization should be increased accordingly.

Precautions

Generally, calla lilies are moved indoors before the Cold Dew Festival in October. Try to keep the room temperature no lower than 10℃.

When moving indoors, pay attention to ventilation, otherwise aphids are likely to occur. If this occurs, spray low-concentration omethoate to prevent and control it in time, and pay attention to improving ventilation conditions.

After knowing so much, I believe your Calla Lily can safely overwinter!
