How to grow a miniature coconut and how often to water it

1. How to raise

1. Loose soil: Miniature coconut palms should be planted in loose, fertile, well-drained soil, which is helpful for root growth and breathing. If you want to prepare the potting soil yourself, you can mix it with leaf mold and river sand in a ratio of 3:1. In addition, you should also add a small amount of base fertilizer to increase soil fertility and supplement it with nutrients.

2. Suitable light and temperature: Miniature coconut palm has strong adaptability to light, but it is usually grown in a semi-shaded place. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves will easily turn yellow. The temperature during the growing period should be controlled between 15-30℃. If it exceeds 35℃ in summer, spray water to cool it down. If it is below 5℃ in winter, pay attention to cold protection.

3. Water frequently: Miniature coconut palm likes a humid environment and has a high demand for water, so it is better to water it wet rather than dry. If the climate is too dry, the plant will develop poorly. In addition to watering frequently, you should also spray water on the leaves to increase the air humidity and make the leaves shiny. Control watering in winter to help the plant survive the winter.

4. Pay attention to fertilization: The miniature coconut palm does not have a high demand for fertilizer. It is sufficient to apply fertilizer 1-2 times a month during the growth period. Use liquid fertilizer as it is easier to absorb. Growth is slow in winter and no fertilization is needed. In addition, in order to avoid concentrated fertilizer burning the roots, it is necessary to fully dilute the fertilizer before applying it to reduce the concentration.

2. How often should I water?

The water requirements of the miniature coconut palm are different in different seasons. Spring and autumn are its growing seasons, and it needs to be watered every three days. The temperature is high in summer, so you need to water the plants 2-3 times a day and spray them with water appropriately to keep them moist. The temperature is lower in winter and the plants grow slowly, so watering once every 10 days is sufficient.
