1. What is Astragalus?

Astragalus is the root of the leguminous plant Astragalus mongolica, and is a traditional Chinese medicine with a very long history. It is a perennial herb, about fifty to one hundred centimeters in height, and its compound leaves generally have thirteen to twenty-seven leaflets, about five to ten centimeters in length. Its stem is relatively thick and upright, with long black or white hairs and branches at the top. Its flowers are yellow or light yellow in color, densely distributed, and bell-shaped in shape.
