Cultivation methods and precautions of purple duck toe grass

Cultivation methods and precautions of purple duck toe grass

1. Fertilizer

Purple duckweed likes fertile and loose soil, so the supply of water and fertilizer must be ensured during the growth period. You can water it with decomposed organic liquid fertilizer once every 10 days or so. Only with sufficient nutrients can you ensure that the stems are thick and the leaves are dark green or purple-red.

2. Lighting

Only in midsummer should it be moved to a semi-sprouting place, and it can be exposed to light normally at other times. Move it indoors to a well-lit location in October. Duck toe grass can also be grown in the shade, but long-term insufficient light can easily cause the stem nodes to become longer, thinner and smaller, and the leaf color to become lighter, so it needs to maintain normal light for healthy growth.

3. Water

The potting soil should always be kept moist and breathable. If it is dry for a long time, the leaves may wilt, then gradually wither and finally fall off. It is advisable to maintain a high humidity and pay attention to good ventilation, which is conducive to plant growth.

4. Temperature

In winter, the temperature should not be lower than 5℃. If it can be kept above 15℃, the plants will appear vigorous. If it is lower than 10℃, they will not grow. When the maintenance temperature is too low, artificial heating is required.
