How to make Clivia bloom normally

How to make Clivia bloom normally

Reasons why Clivia cannot bloom normally

temperature

The best growth temperature for Clivia is between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius.

The temperature is too low in winter. Below 15 degrees, Clivia grows slowly and its flowering period is delayed. Or the temperature is too high, and the Clivia fails to enter its dormant period on time, affecting its normal flowering period.

Watering

Clivia is native to the tropical regions of southern Africa and prefers a semi-shaded and humid environment.

Watering too frequently can lead to water accumulation and cause root rot. Excessive drought can also cause root damage.

Fertilization

Fertilizing too much or using the wrong type of fertilizer will result in failure to bloom normally.

If you apply too little fertilizer and do not change the soil for a long time, there will not be enough nutrients in the soil environment where the Clivia grows, which will cause the Clivia to fail to bloom due to lack of nutrients.

How can Clivia bloom normally?

Winter temperature

When cultivating Clivia, you should pay attention to giving it a slightly lower temperature in winter. The room temperature should be between 11 and 17 degrees Celsius. To increase the temperature of the bottom of the potting soil, move the flower pot to the radiator at night (maintain 25 degrees Celsius), and move it back to the sunny windowsill during the day to allow it to get a full dormancy.

Moderate light

In summer, it should be placed in a slightly shady place. Starting from June, the flower pot should be gradually moved back from the sunny window. In August, it can be 1 meter away from the windowsill. Sometimes it is placed on the ground. In October, it is placed back on the sunny windowsill. It is always not exposed to strong sunlight.

Fertilization

Attention should be paid to the appropriate use of phosphorus fertilizers.
