How to sow Begonia

How to sow Begonia

1. Choose a container

For Begonia, you should choose a flowerpot that is breathable and water-permeable and slightly shallow. After selection, it must be cleaned and disinfected before use. In addition, before sowing, pad the drainage holes at the bottom of the container with tiles so that the water can drain smoothly when we water.

2. Choose the matrix

The principles for choosing this are relatively fixed, generally it is loose and contains more nutrients. We can mix leaf mold and garden soil for use. However, after selecting the substrate, we cannot use it immediately. We still have to expose it to the sun for disinfection, which is conducive to seed germination. In addition, we should also use sieves and other items to roughly separate them into coarse and fine.

3. Time selection

Generally speaking, the best time to sow is from April to May.

4. Formal sowing

First, place the coarser substrate in the lower half of the container and the finer substrate in the upper part. Generally speaking, the soil should not be too full, the soil surface should be about two centimeters away from the mouth of the pot. Then, mix the seeds with a finer substrate and sprinkle them on the surface of the potting soil. There is no need to continue covering the soil. Next, keep the soil moist by using thin glass or plastic film to keep it moist. Then, control the temperature between fifteen and twenty-two degrees. Wait about a week for the seeds to sprout.
