How to cultivate loquat

How to cultivate loquat

1. Soil

When growing loquats at home, you should choose soil that is breathable and well-drained as the potting soil, put a few broken tiles at the bottom of the pot, and it is best to cover it with a layer of fine sand. It can allow it to stretch its roots, stabilize the tree shape, and grow rapidly.

2. Temperature

It is a subtropical plant that is relatively resistant to high temperatures but not cold. It needs to be kept indoors in winter, and the temperature should not be lower than -6℃, otherwise frostbite and other problems will occur.

3. Watering

Its leaves are relatively large, so you need to water it more frequently when maintaining it. Especially during the growing period, water cannot be lacking. Water once a day, and once in the morning and evening when the temperature is higher in summer.

4. Fertilization

It has a large demand for fertilizer. It can be maintained in March, May, August and September. The fertilizer should be mainly organic fertilizer or a small amount of compound fertilizer to promote plant growth.

5. Lighting

It is not recommended to place it in the sun during the seedling stage so that it is exposed to direct sunlight. When the height and number of branches and leaves reach a certain level, place it in the sun to receive sufficient light. It is best to give it 6 hours of long daylight.

6. Pruning

The height of the potted plant should be controlled, and generally the most suitable trunk height is 20-30cm. It is necessary to promptly cut off dead and weak branches to reduce the loss of nutrients. It is also necessary to properly trim off the excess branches and leaves in the dense parts to increase light transmittance.
