How to grow Sudanese Impatiens

How to grow Sudanese Impatiens

1. Soil

It has strong adaptability to land, is resistant to barrenness, and has low requirements for soil quality. It is more appropriate to choose sandy loam with good drainage when planting it. If conditions permit, you can mix some leaf mold into the soil to improve soil quality and increase soil fertility.

2. Temperature

The most suitable temperature for its growth is between 16-26℃, and a warm environment makes it grow well. During the flowering period, the ambient temperature needs to be controlled above 10℃. It should be placed indoors in winter to prevent frostbite.

3. Watering

It has high requirements for water, especially in summer, so it needs more watering, and the soil in the pot should be avoided from being too dry. But the soil should not be too wet for a long time to avoid root rot. In other seasons, water once every morning.

4. Lighting

A sunny environment is more conducive to its growth, and it should be given at least 4 hours of sunshine every day. In summer, it is necessary to provide it with some shade to prevent exposure to the scorching sun, otherwise the leaves will wither and the branches will become soft.

5. Fertilization

It likes fertile soil and has a relatively high demand for fertilizer. You can spread a thin layer of fertilizer before planting, and fertilize once every half a month during the growing season. It is best to use decomposed compound fertilizer.

6. Pests and diseases

Its powdery mildew mainly occurs on leaves and young shoots. This usually starts happening in June, when a white powdery layer appears on the leaves. When problems arise, they must be dealt with promptly to prevent the disease from spreading.
