The cultivation methods and precautions of Feicai

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: The temperature suitable for its growth is between humidity and thirty degrees. It will stop growing when the temperature is below five degrees. Therefore, anti-freeze measures should be taken during the winter, especially for plants grown in the north. It is best to bring them indoors and place them in a sunny place for the winter. This can greatly increase the overwintering rate.

2. Watering: The watering time is not fixed. It mainly depends on the state of the soil to determine whether it needs watering. Only when the soil is completely dry does it need watering. When watering, the soil needs to be completely soaked, but there should be no accumulation of water in the soil. Its roots are not tolerant to waterlogging. If there is accumulation of water in the soil, it is easy to cause root rot of the plant.

3. Fertilization: There are certain techniques for fertilizing it. You should apply less fertilizer but more frequently. That means you should not apply too much fertilizer each time. Apply less fertilizer and apply more frequently. You can use organic granular fertilizer specially for flowers, or you can make your own compost. To make compost, you just need to bury rotten leaves, fruits, vegetables and animal offal in the soil. After fermentation, it becomes compost that can be used for plants. The frequency of fertilization is twice a month.

4. Light: It is not resistant to strong light and needs shade when exposed to light. The light intensity weakens in autumn and winter, and the sunshine time can be appropriately extended. Under normal circumstances, the sunshine time should not be less than six hours a day.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by cuttings. First, cut off branches about twelve centimeters long from healthy plants, then disinfect the cuts, soak them in rooting water for thirty seconds, and after drying, insert them directly into soil with good drainage. After watering thoroughly, place them in a cool place for maintenance, and they will grow roots in about two weeks.

2. Pruning: It generally does not require heavy pruning. It only requires slightly thinning out the overly dense branches and cutting off the dead branches and leaves.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Pests: Aphids are its number one pest. Once discovered, the infected branches need to be cleaned and destroyed as soon as possible, and then sprayed with carbendazim to increase pest resistance.

2. Disease: If the branches and leaves turn yellow, it may be caused by excessive light. You need to move it to a cool place to slow down the growth for a few days, and then place it in a semi-shaded environment for maintenance.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It is non-toxic.

2. Edibility: It cannot be eaten directly, but its extract has therapeutic effects on certain diseases and can be used as medicine.
