Cold orchid flowering maintenance

Cold orchid flowering maintenance

Flowering period of cold orchid

The flowering period of Cymbidium is usually from August to December, but there are actually some differences.

Generally, due to differences in environment, climate, etc. in different regions, the flowering period is different. Generally, the flowering period of Cymbidium is concentrated in October and November, but there are also some that bloom in July or January, and some that bloom in April and May. Therefore, some people believe that there are three types of orchids: spring orchids, summer orchids and autumn orchids.

Flowering and maintenance of cold orchid

If you want the cold orchid to bloom beautiful flowers with a fragrant scent, maintenance is very important.

In order to care for the cold orchid, in addition to reasonable care in the early stages of growth, it also requires good water and fertilizer management, sufficient light and suitable temperature to meet the growth needs of the cold orchid and ensure that it has enough nutrients to grow well. There are two points that need to be noted. First, in winter, you need to pay attention to cold and frost prevention to prevent the cold orchid plants from being frostbitten in overly cold climates; second, you need to pay attention to disease and pest prevention to avoid injury and death of the plants due to disease and pest invasion.

In addition, some small details need to be paid attention to when caring for the Cymbidium during its flowering period.

For example, for orchids with dark-colored flowers, the light should be stronger, while for those with light-colored flowers, the light can be slightly shaded. It is also necessary to pay attention to protecting the flower buds, otherwise the flower buds of the cold orchid will easily rot or be bitten by insects, so timely observation and prevention are required. Sometimes, when the fragrance of the Cymbidium flower is not strong enough, you can lower the maintenance temperature. When the temperature is low, the fragrance of the flower will be stronger.
