The cultivation method and precautions of kohlrabi

The cultivation method and precautions of kohlrabi

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: It likes warm climates, but it can also grow in severe cold and high temperatures. The temperature requirements are different at different times. The seedling stage does not have high requirements for temperature. It can withstand a low temperature of minus 15 degrees and a high temperature of 35 degrees, so there is no need to adjust the temperature; the germination temperature should be controlled between 18 and 20 degrees, and the germination rate at this temperature is the highest; when the maintenance temperature exceeds 25, the plant's own consumption will increase, the leaves at the base will turn yellow, the bulbs will become loose, and the quality of the plant will be seriously reduced.

2. Watering: It is relatively drought-resistant during the seedling stage. As long as it is not in a long-term drought environment, it does not need watering. It prefers a moist growing environment during the bulb stage, so you need to start watering it, but it does not need watering when the bulb is just beginning to develop. Only when the bulb grows to four centimeters, it needs watering. The amount of watering does not need to be too much each time, just water until the soil is completely moist.

3. Fertilization: The consumption of nutrients during the growth period is very large. According to the composition of fertilizers, nitrogen fertilizers should be the main type of fertilizer, supplemented by phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. If base fertilizer is applied to the soil, you should use compound fertilizer when applying fertilizer. In addition, you can also add calcium to the soil in an appropriate amount. When applying fertilizer, you should not apply excessive amounts of any one type of fertilizer. You should use a combination of fertilizers to achieve a balanced nutrition. The frequency of fertilization is once every half a month.

4. Light: Its growth cannot be separated from light. The daily light exposure time must be more than five hours, otherwise it is easy to grow poorly.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by sowing. First, prepare the seedbed. Mix the seedbed soil with base fertilizer and put it into the nutrient pot. Water the soil before sowing. Wait until the water has completely seeped in before starting sowing. Put two seeds in each hole. Cover with fine soil after sowing, and then cover with plastic film. Seedlings will emerge in about a week.

2. Pruning: There is no specific way to prune it. You just need to remove the leaves that are not growing well during the growth process.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Pests: When the plants reach the heading stage, they are easily infected by the diamondback moth, which will cause the plants to fail to form heads and affect the yield. If you find diamondback moth, you can use pyrethroid pesticides to eliminate the insects.

2. Disease: It is prone to sudden wilt disease. Before planting, it is best to use sterile soil as the seedbed, or use soil disinfected with lime water before sowing. This can effectively prevent the occurrence of sudden wilt disease.

IV. Other issues

1. Edible: edible.

2. Other functions: It can be used as medicine.
