1. Maintenance methods1. Temperature: It does not have high requirements for temperature. Because of its cold-resistant characteristics, it can be planted in the open field in the north. As long as the temperature is not lower than minus ten degrees Celsius, it will not be frostbitten. The maintenance temperature should be controlled between 18 degrees and 28 degrees. The plant growth is best in this temperature range. 2. Watering: It does not consume much water for its growth, and because it is relatively drought-resistant, the water needs to be controlled slightly during the maintenance process. Each time, you need to wait until the soil is completely dry before watering. The amount of water should be enough to wet the soil surface. Generally speaking, watering once a week is sufficient. 3. Fertilization: Its growth consumes a lot of nutrients, especially during the growth period. Depending on its growth status, it needs top dressing once or twice a month. The fertilizer needs to be diluted each time it is applied, otherwise it is easy to burn the roots. You can use compound fertilizers or farmyard manure. 4. Light: It does not require much light. Generally, two to five hours of light a day can meet its needs. Avoid strong light every time you expose it to light. Too strong light can easily burn the branches and leaves. 2. Breeding techniques1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by sowing. The seeds for reproduction should be from the current year, because the seeds are short-lived and are not suitable for use in the next year. When sowing, after selecting the seeds, soak them in warm water for four hours, then plant them in the cultivation medium and water them thoroughly. Generally, seedlings will emerge in one to two weeks. 2. Planting: After division, the plants need to be planted as soon as possible. Flat and well-drained soil should be selected for planting. Dig holes at a distance of 50 cm between rows. When digging the hole, use pig manure as base fertilizer, then put the plant in, spread out the roots of the plant, press with soil, and finally water it once to help the roots take hold. 3. Problem Diagnosis1. Yellowing leaves: If the leaves of the plant turn yellow, it is probably caused by too strong light. The plant needs to be transplanted to a cool place for a period of time. After it recovers, it can be cultivated normally. 2. Root rot: If the plant has root rot, it may be caused by excessive watering. You need to dig it out, remove the rotten roots, disinfect the incision and then replant it. IV. Other issues1. Edibility: It is edible. The roots can be used to extract starch and make wine. 2. Other functions: It can be used as medicine to treat joint pain. |
