When and how to plant peas

When and how to plant peas

Pea Planting Time

Peas have strong adaptability, so they can be planted in spring, autumn and winter. In the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the main practice is overwintering cultivation. They are sown from late October to mid-November, or in spring from February to March. The growth cycle is relatively short and they can be harvested in summer.

How to grow peas

1. Soil: Peas do not have very high requirements for soil, but it is best to grow them in well-drained, loose, neutral soil containing organic matter, which is more conducive to germination.

2. Seed selection: Before sowing peas, you need to select the seeds. You can soak them in salt water, remove some shriveled seeds, and then germinate them. They can be sown after about 15 days.

3. Sowing: Before sowing peas, you need to apply enough base fertilizer first, and then plant them by spot sowing, sowing 2-6 seeds in each hole, then water them appropriately and cover them with soil.

Pea planting precautions

1. Peas are a long-day plant, so when caring for them, they need sufficient sunlight, which is beneficial to their growth and can germinate early.

2. During the maintenance period, peas need a suitable temperature environment, preferably kept between 12-16 degrees. This temperature is the most suitable, but if it is too low, it will not germinate.
