Cultivation methods and precautions of dense leaf lotus

Cultivation methods and precautions of dense leaf lotus

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: The soil for breeding should be loose and breathable. It can be made by mixing peat soil and coconut bran.

2. Water: When watering, choose to water thoroughly or gradually, because it is not suitable for long-term and large-scale watering. If there is too much water in the pot, water will accumulate and cause the roots, stems and leaves to rot, affecting its growth and absorption of water.

3. Nutrients: Organic fertilizer is often used when applying fertilizer. Put the organic fertilizer into water to dissolve it, and then pour it into the soil layer around it. However, the amount of fertilizer should also be controlled, not too much or too little.

4. Light: It is sensitive to light because it is not suitable for strong light, and diffuse light is best. If there is insufficient light, the leaves in the middle will turn white, so you need to increase the light.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning and repotting: After growing the dense-leaved lotus for about two years, its root system will grow well and the fleshy leaves will become thicker and more numerous. At this time, the original pot is no longer sufficient for its absorption, so it should be replaced with a larger pot. When repotting, you should trim the complicated root system to better promote absorption.

2. Reproduction: Leaf cutting propagation does not damage the integrity of the whole plant and has a high survival rate. The best time for reproduction is spring and autumn. Select thick and strong fleshy leaves and insert them into soil with sufficient nutrients. You will see sprouts growing in about a week.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Dryness: In the summer, due to the hot weather and high temperature, it will go dormant, but it is not very obvious. At this time, if it is not shaded, exposed to diffuse light, and watered frequently, it will dry up, so pay attention to watering.

2. Root rot and leaf falling: In daily protection, too much water can easily cause root rot and leaves to fall off at the touch. When watering, water should be given gradually.

IV. Other issues

1. How to survive the winter: In winter, it can adapt to temperatures as low as zero degrees Celsius. If the temperature is below zero degrees Celsius, it should be placed indoors. At this time, proper insulation should be carried out to avoid damage to its growth due to low temperature.

2. Whether it can be exposed to rain: The dense-leaved water lily cannot be exposed to rain. Rainwater on its leaves will cause the leaves to wilt and rot. Storing water in the pot will cause root rot, so it is necessary to cover it in time on rainy days.
