Is pennyroyal poisonous?

toxicity

The scent of catnip is as fresh as mint, with a hint of apple. Not only is it non-toxic, it seems to be found on dining tables, tea tables, medicine jars...

Can it be kept indoors for a long time?

The catnip is a small potted plant that can be used for both viewing and smelling. Its scent is like mint with a slight apple flavor. Refresh the mind, clear away heat and relieve summer heat, and repel mosquitoes. The catnip can be grown indoors. But except for some friends who are allergic to fragrance, other people can safely grow catnip at home. It can make the air fresh and emit a faint fragrance.

What is the function?

Sealing pad: It has a strong fragrance and is used as sealing pad in many areas.

Medicinal use: Pentagonal can refresh the mind, clear away heat and relieve summer heat. If you have a headache or fever but don’t like taking medicine, pennyroyal is a good choice.

Making tea and wine: Use fresh petals of champaca to make tea or wine directly. The aroma of tea, wine and flowers will taste great!

Food: When cooking, use Pogostemon cablin as a seasoning to increase the flavor of the dish. It is more commonly used when frying steak.

The scent of pennywort is rich and sweet, quite similar to the scent of apple, so it is also known as "apple scent".

Can I eat it?

Crush the pompom and extract the juice, add honey and drink it to relieve throat pain.

Brew it with hot water to relieve gastrointestinal bloating and colds, mash it and apply it externally to reduce inflammation, swelling and maintain the skin.

How can you just watch such a good thing? It's autumn now and it's quite dry. My throat feels a little uncomfortable, so I picked a few leaves, mashed them, and soaked them in some honey. It tastes like mint, cool and comfortable.

How to cultivate pennywort

Soil: Pogostemon cablin prefers loose, well-drained soil.

Sunlight: The pennywort loves sunlight. Only in an environment with sufficient sunlight will the fleshy leaves be thick. If there is insufficient light, the leaves will become flat and thin.

Temperature: The pennywort is shade-tolerant but afraid of cold, so it needs to be cultivated in a greenhouse. It is not water-tolerant and likes warmth, but not cold-tolerant. It requires a temperature of 5℃-10℃ in winter.

Watering: Catnip is not tolerant to moisture, but excessive moisture can easily cause root rot and death. The soil should be kept dry and moist. Watering and fertilizing should be reduced or stopped on cloudy days. After summer, be sure to water less, and control watering even more in winter. Generally, you should water the plant only when the leaves wilt, otherwise it will tend to grow too tall.

Pruning: Because the catnip is very easy to branch and grow in a horizontal plane, the spacing between plants should be wide when planting to allow the branches and leaves to stretch. Moderate pruning can promote branching and strong growth.

Fertilization: Not tolerant to fertilizer, once a month is sufficient during the growing season. Use phosphorus and potassium fertilizers as the main fertilizers and less nitrogen fertilizers.
