When to water garlic

1. Coated water

Garlic is usually sown in autumn. After sowing, it should be watered once and then covered with mulch. Since we have a long winter ahead of us, make sure to water the plants thoroughly this time. In addition to helping its growth, the mulch can also keep the plants warm and moist.

2. Seedling water

After the weather warms up in spring, usually in early April, it is necessary to water the seedlings once to strengthen them. This is the early stage of the seedling's development. The soil must be kept moist for a long time to allow it to grow stronger. Insufficient water at this time will not only affect the yield, but also easily cause the seedlings to dry out and die.

3. Moss water

Generally, garlic shoots begin to grow in mid-to-late April, and it usually takes about 30 days from growth to harvest. At this time, you need to water more to promote the growth of garlic shoots. Insufficient water will cause it to consume water and nutrients from the bulb, which is not good for the garlic harvest.

4. Swelling Water

May and June are the periods when garlic bulbs expand. The water demand in the early stage is still very high. Only with sufficient water can it grow fuller and stronger. But in the later stage, you should reduce watering, firstly to promote its maturity, and secondly to make the garlic more durable in storage.
