How to plant freesia bulbs

How to plant freesia bulbs

1. Planting time

It is recommended to plant freesia bulbs in autumn, when the climate, temperature, humidity and other aspects are more suitable for it, which can increase the survival rate and is also beneficial to its later growth. The specific time should refer to the area where you are located. If you are in the southern region, you can choose before or after the month. In the northern region, it is better to do it earlier, around September.

2. Soil Preparation

It is not very demanding on soil, ordinary garden soil will do. But if conditions permit, it is best to use loose, breathable and fertile soil. You can mix humus, garden soil and sandy soil, and apply enough base fertilizer before planting to increase nutrients, so that its growth will be more vigorous in the later stage.

3. Choose bulbs

The bulbs must be healthy and must not contain bacteria or be infested by insects, as this will affect their development and reduce the survival rate. Just use the normal size one for easy management.

4. Planting bulbs

Prepare the soil and bulbs and you can start planting. When planting, the bulbs should not be planted too deep or too shallow in the soil. The best depth is 5-8 centimeters, which not only has a certain resistance to lodging, but is also more conducive to root development and bulb differentiation.

5. Post-planting maintenance

After planting the bulbs, you need to pay attention to management and place them in a well-lit place, but be careful not to expose them to direct sunlight. Water frequently and keep it moist. It is best to water thoroughly when the soil is dry, but do not apply excessive water, otherwise the bulbs will easily rot. In addition, pay attention to the temperature. It likes a cool environment, so if the temperature is high, more ventilation is needed.
