Characteristics of Kalanchoe

1. Appearance characteristics

1. Plant shape: The shape of the Kalanchoe plant is relatively small, very small compared to ordinary plants. Its stem is very upright, and the plant usually only grows to about 10-30cm in height.

2. Leaves: Its leaves grow very densely, are emerald green in color, and are opposite. The leaves are oval or oblong-spoon shaped, only about 4-8cm long, relatively thick, and 2-6cm wide. Its leaves are glossy and fleshy, with a hint of red on the edges.

3. Flowers: The flowers are very small, with a diameter of only about 1.2-1.6cm. The flowers are in the shape of a high-footed saucer with 4 petals. Its flowers come in many colors, the most common ones are yellow, white, pink, and orange-red.

2. Habits and Characteristics

It is native to Madagascar in Africa and prefers a warm and humid environment, so it grows best at a temperature of around 15-25℃. It is also not cold-resistant, and the temperature in winter should not be lower than 5℃. It is very sensitive to light and grows best in short-day conditions.
