China's national flower

China's national flower

1. What is the national flower?

At present, my country's national flower has not been fully determined, but if nothing unexpected happens, it will be chosen between peony and plum blossom. Although the plum blossom was selected as the first of the top ten famous flowers, the peony is more popular among the people. Of course, there are also some proposals to list peony and plum blossom as national flowers, or four flowers for one country.

2. Candidate Flowers

1. Peony: Peony is known as the king of flowers. Its gorgeous shape, elegant and luxurious appearance make it deeply loved by people. Literati and poets of all ages have praised it, and it was even designated as the national flower in the late Qing Dynasty. But in the voting for the top ten famous flowers, it lost to the plum blossom and ranked second.

2. Plum blossom: Plum blossom won the first place in the vote of China's top ten famous flowers, so it is well-deserved to be regarded as the national flower. Moreover, it is listed among the Four Gentlemen of Flowers and the Three Friends of Winter. Its characteristic of blooming in midwinter also symbolizes the people's indomitable spirit, and many poems also praise it. Therefore, it became a strong candidate for flower and was even designated as the national flower during the Republic of China.

3. Lotus: An article titled “Ode to the Love of Lotus” has made many people remember its characteristic of being untainted by mud, and because the lotus is full of treasures, it is also deeply loved by the people. However, compared with the first two, it is slightly inferior in the ranking.

4. Chrysanthemum: Chrysanthemum ranks third among the top ten famous flowers. Tao Qian of the Eastern Jin Dynasty praised it highly and gave it the style of a hermit. The custom of appreciating chrysanthemums on the Double Ninth Festival also makes it very popular among the people.
